Political activist Joshua Okello has transitioned his nationwide advocacy campaign to the Busoga sub-region, rallying incoming legislators to support Rt. Hon. Anita Among for Speaker of the 12th Parliament. This follows a successful launch of the tour in the Teso region, marking Jinja as the second major stop in Joshua’s mission to consolidate early parliamentary support.
While addressing journalists at the Bourbon and Source of the Nile Suits in Jinja today, Joshua emphasized that Among’s leadership has already earned her a mandate from the people. He noted that his media tour is designed to ensure the 12th Parliament maintains the steady hand and legislative momentum established during her current tenure.
Joshua made a specific appeal to the Busoga caucus, framing Anita Among as a “daughter of the soil.” By referring to her affectionately as “Nalongo,” he highlighted the deep-rooted cultural and social ties that link the Speaker directly to the heart of the Busoga community.
The activist predicted an “automatic” victory for Among within the region, asserting that incoming MPs are already aligned with her vision for a people-centered Parliament. He suggested that the overwhelming support from Busoga, following the momentum from Teso, would be a decisive factor in her return to the Speaker’s chair.
This Jinja briefing serves as a critical milestone in Joshua’s ongoing nationwide tour. As he prepares to head to the next region, he continues to use these media engagements to argue that maintaining the current parliamentary leadership is essential for both regional development and national stability.
