The former State Minister for Karamoja Affairs and the Bududa Woman Member of Parliament, Agnes Nandutu, has appealed for a non-custodial sentence by the Anti-Corruption Division of the High Court.
Nandutu faces a fine of up to Shs 3.2m, which the defence appealed should be the option the court considers.
The alternative would be a jail term not exceeding seven years, or both.
