Singer-turned-politician Geoffrey Lutaaya has petitioned the courts to challenge the victory of Kakuuto MP-elect Kaka Uthman following the recently concluded 2026 general elections.
Appearing alongside his legal team, Lutaaya alleges that the Electoral Commission Uganda failed to consider results from at least one sub-county where he claims to have had overwhelming support.

According to his lawyers, the exclusion of votes from three polling stations significantly affected the final outcome.
The disputed polling stations reportedly have a combined total of 909 registered voters, while the declared winning margin stands at 685 votes.
Lutaaya’s team argues that including those results would have changed the outcome in his favor.
They further accuse both Uthman and the Electoral Commission of falsifying declaration forms and violating fundamental electoral procedures to secure victory.
Lutaaya claims to possess video evidence and original declaration forms to support his case. He is seeking a court declaration that he was the rightful winner and an annulment of Uthman’s victory.
Had the Electoral Commission considered votes from the affected polling stations, it is irrefutable that Hon. Lutaaya won the election.
The petition also alleges widespread irregularities, including the abandonment of established electoral procedures and the manipulation of official results.
“The people of Kakuuto made their choice. The Electoral Commission had no authority to declare a loser as the winner,” the legal team added.
