Eddy Kenzo has come out in defense of fellow artists who frequently appear on TikTok Live, saying their actions are a response to years of frustration with mainstream media.
Speaking during an interview with Eddie Sendi, Kenzo explained that while he personally avoids TikTok Live sessions, he fully understands why many musicians are turning to the platform to directly engage with their fans.

I don’t believe in clarifying for anything, but those people are fighting for themselves, except you haven’t realized it yet.
You have abused them a lot, so they are tired and have decided to do it themselves.
According to the BET Award winner, many artists feel misrepresented or unfairly criticized by traditional media outlets, pushing them to take control of their own narratives.
Through TikTok Lives, musicians are now choosing to speak directly to their audiences rather than relying on interviews or third-party coverage.
Kenzo further noted that media scrutiny has, in some cases, negatively impacted artists’ brands, leaving them with no choice but to respond in real time and defend their reputations.
The media has played a big part in pulling down artists’ brands, so they resort to fighting back by speaking their sides through these lives.
Despite his support, Kenzo made it clear that he rarely participates in such online sessions himself. He attributed this to his career success, which has allowed him to build financial stability beyond music.
It is hard to find me on those lives because God blessed me, I broke through locally and internationally and made some money, so I can live without music.
However, he acknowledged that not all artists share the same privilege. For many, music remains their sole source of income, making it necessary to stay active and visible, especially when facing criticism.
But there are some who still look at music as their only source of income, so they won’t stay in their beds as you go hard on them.
