Hoima West City Division residents have remained in a jumbled situation as unknown individuals dropped a coffin containing a panga at the door entrance of one resident on Monday night.

The incident occurred in Ruyanja West Cell, Kibingo Ward, Hoima City, at the home of Alituha Godfrey.

It was in the morning when Alituha Godfrey and Harriet Nyamaizi found a mysterious coffin placed in front of their house door entrance, a situation which shocked. They soon alarmed neighbours, local leaders and police for help.

When he reached the crime scene, Alituha Godfrey was unable to talk to the media at that time.

However, his wife Harriet Nyamaizi, said that it was mysterious for her to open the door in the morning and found a purple wrapped coffin lying in front of their house door.

“I had woken up very early in the morning to prepare the children for school but it was very surprising to find a coffin wrapped with purple cloth right at my door.

“When I saw it, I got shocked and began screaming ‘Jesus’ and collapsed until my husband came outside and found me lying down while the coffin was also there,” she narrated.

Other community members and neighbours gathered, then the LC1 chairman, and the police were called.

However, we remain in a very hard-to-explain situation, Nyamaizi said.

Johnson Mwesigwa, the vice chairperson narrated that they had received prior information from different individuals who saw the same related coffin being transported by some unknown two individuals along Hoima-Bugambe road via Ruyanja yesterday 9:00pm to 10:00pm.

The whole incident started yesterday Monday between 9:00pm and 10:00pm, when different residents saw a man and a woman bypass the trading centre carrying the same size with half of it covered with a sack on a motorcycle.

He said that the situation remains confusing as the coffin seen in transit is put on one’s home door.

Kiiza Erukana aka Katefali, LC1 chairman of Ruyanja Well Cell, however, noted that there are a couple of misunderstandings among the communities which he said that local council offices should analyse.

“I confirmed that there are a lot of complaints within our communities which we as the local council leaders have to sit and look into to curb such bad behaviours in our community,” he said.

In a way of legal actions, police deployment from Kasingo police station in Hoima West Division was done involving a police dog to trace the footpaths of unknown culprits but still in vain.

Currently, the coffin is in the possession of the police.
