ForteBet Donates UGX 15 Million to Fight Sickle Cell Disease

ForteBet, one of Uganda’s leading betting companies, has committed UGX 15 million to support the fight against sickle cell disease.

The funds were handed over to Isaac Okello, CEO of Raising Hope International Friends, an organisation that works closely with the Government of Uganda to combat the disease.

According to the organisers, the donation will be allocated in two parts. UGX 10 million will support the Sickle Cell Marathon 2026, scheduled for March 8 in Iganga District, while UGX 5 million will be directed to the Sickle Cell Clinic to facilitate the purchase of essential medicines.

“Available information indicates that about 20,000 babies are born with sickle cell disease every year. Unfortunately, due to inadequate treatment and care, up to 80 per cent of them die before the age of five,” Okello said while receiving the funds.

He described the situation as alarming, noting that the support from corporate partners like ForteBet will go a long way in saving lives and raising awareness.

ForteBet representatives said their continued involvement in the cause reflects the company’s commitment to supporting community health initiatives across the country.
