We Don’t See It as a Job Anymore – Bajjo Events Blames Artists for Falling Event Promotion Industry

Share

Events promoter Alfonso Andrew Mukasa commonly known as Bajjo Events has opened up about the state of the music industry revealing that it was declining because promoters lost their place.

Lately musicians are taking over their careers by organizing their own concerts without the help of promoters. With this, they hope to maximize their profits and take charge of their careers independently.

Bajjo while speaking in a TV interview, believes that they chose to do things independently because they thought promoters were underpaying them for their concerts.

He explained that their role in the industry had lost value with artists disrespecting them. At one point, he says, artists kept asking for too much money from shows which couldn’t raise that amount, forcing promoters to borrow money from money lenders to pay them what they had asked for.

“Many money lenders have taken over the promoter’s property. For example Nobart, the reason as to why he ran broke was because he invested a lot of money in artists, they thought he was cheating them yet in actual sense he wasn’t getting profit,” Bajjo said.

Bajjo revealed that as promoters, they oversaw  all that was needed for a concert to take place but at the end of the day we ended up being disrespected. In return, most of them walked away from event promotion and focused on their personal businesses. He made it known that he was doing promoting just to keep his name afloat in the industry despite losing value.

“I take on some jobs just to keep my name out there but we do not take it as a job anymore because expenses are too high, artists are foolish, same goes to venues owners and sound people. Artists do not have content anymore; they resorted to blogging. They are always on TikTok live from morning to night,” Bajjo said.
