Singer Lydia Jazmine, born Lydia Nabawanuka, has opened up about one of the darkest periods she has faced since rising to fame in the music industry.

The Masuka hitmaker revealed that she has battled depression on two separate occasions, describing the experiences as some of the most challenging moments in her career.

Reflecting on those times, Lydia Jazmine explained that her first encounter with depression came after parting ways with her former manager, a transition she says was far from smooth and took a significant emotional toll on her.

The second instance was triggered by personal family issues that deeply affected her mental well-being.

There are moments when you feel depressed, I’ve experienced that myself, about twice. The first time was when I parted ways with my manager; that transition was very difficult. Another time was when I had issues within my family.

Despite the struggles, the singer expressed gratitude for overcoming those moments, crediting her faith in God for helping her regain strength and stability in both her personal life and career.

She emphasized that discipline and humility have been key pillars behind her resilience and continued success in the industry.

I’m a believer, and I thank God. I truly believe He has been with me through it all. But beyond that, discipline and humility are very important.

Lydia Jazmine also highlighted the steady growth of Uganda’s music industry, noting that although international music still has a strong influence, local audiences have remained supportive of homegrown talent, contributing to the industry’s ongoing progress.
