Luwilight clarifies she was not released on bail after hate speech arrest

TikToker Luwilight, real name Nansubuga Aisha, has finally broken her silence following her release from Luzira Prison on February 18, clearing the air about the circumstances surrounding her freedom.

Luwilight had spent over a month on remand after being accused of hate speech by Zuena Kirema and her husband, singer Bebe Cool. Her arrest had netizens talking, with many of her followers assuming she had secured bail.

However, during a TikTok Live session last night, Luwilight dismissed those claims, revealing that she was not released on bail as rumored.

According to her, the case was dropped after the complainant chose to withdraw the charges, effectively bringing the matter to a close.

I had to clear the air. My lawyers had no problem, they were very good at what they were doing, but there are situations where even if you have who, if the other person knows bigger people, you just have to be gumite.

The TikToker explained that at some point, she felt there was little she could do but remain patient and allow the process to unfold.

She admitted that the situation reached a stage where she had to wait for forgiveness from Bebe Cool and Zuena for the case to be dismissed.

Luwilight also addressed claims that she had apologized. She clarified that she did not admit to wrongdoing but acknowledged that social media conversations can sometimes unintentionally offend others.

I don’t apologise for what I didn’t do. Among the things I signed, there was a word ‘if’,if at any one point I said something and it hurt someone, sorry about that. We speak a lot of things on social media and some annoy people, so I agreed to the ‘if’ part because you might not know you’ve hurt someone.
