For a while, dancehall artist Kapeke has had a lot to say about fellow Ugandan artist Joshua Baraka’s mode of work and music business.
In an interview with Galaxy FM, Kapeke notes that Baraka is not selective about whom to work with, especially for international acts, and he gives everyone a chance, which could ruin him in the future.

The Kaba singer states that such international collaborations are not of much benefit to local artists, giving examples of Eddy Kenzo and Fik Fameica, whom he claims did not benefit from their collaborations with the likes of Patoranking.
Kapeke also states that he personally wouldn’t be wowed if a collaboration with Shensea were proposed because he is a picky artist who doesn’t work with just anybody.
He, however, asks the public not to misperceive his statements about Baraka as attacks, as he claims that the Wrong Places singer inspires him too in many aspects of his career.
I can’t be bringing him down if I already told you that I yearn to become the next Joshua Baraka. My comment about his remix with Shensea, I don’t see that working for our market because I understand it better than anyone.
Such remixes have happened, Kenzo did projects with Patoranking, Fik Fameica too…so Baraka is not the first. It’s normal, that’s what he has to do. It’s what keeps us relevant.
I personally cannot work with Shensea. Joshua Baraka works with everyone; I don’t. I am very picky with who I do music with. International collaborations have not helped anyone locally, even the older artists.
