Durban, South Africa | Site et Sons, in collaboration with the National Arts Council (NAC) and the Department of Sport, Arts and Culture (DSAC), proudly announces that the official call for applications for the 4360 International Comedy Festival is now open.

Founded by award-winning comedian and producer Thenjiwe Moseley, who was born and raised in KwaMashu, the festival invites comedians from across Africa and around the globe — including stand-up comics, alternative performers, street comedy artists, and emerging talents — to apply for a place in this premier comedic showcase, taking place on 16 & 17 April 2026 in Durban, South Africa.

More than just a series of performances, the 4360 International Comedy Festival is designed as a two-day celebration of wit, culture, and creative exchange. The programme will include headline stage performances, street comedy activations, and a professional development workshop aimed at strengthening skills within the comedy industry.

The workshop attendance application form is also now available for aspiring comedians, content creators, and industry professionals who wish to participate in the learning and networking sessions without performing.

The workshop will focus on performance techniques, international market insights, brand development, and monetising comedy in a digital era.

“4360 is deeply personal to me,” says founder Thenjiwe Moseley. “I was born and bred in KwaMashu. This postal code shaped my humour, my resilience, and my worldview. By building this festival, we are taking a township identity and giving it a global stage.

“We are not just hosting comedians — we are building a legacy that positions Durban as a serious player in the global comedy economy.”

The name 4360 carries deep local roots — it is the postal code of KwaMashu. By anchoring an international festival to this identity, Moseley and her team aim to shine a global spotlight on the talent and vibrancy of KwaMashu and the greater Durban area.

The long-term vision is to grow 4360 into a world-class cultural brand that attracts international partners, boosts the local tourism sector, stimulates creative tourism, and strengthens the creative economy of KwaZulu-Natal.

“This festival is about more than just a punchline; it is a platform for social cohesion and creative growth,” adds Mr Larry Mhlanga, Festival Communications Officer. “We are calling on comedians from traditional stages to street corners — those who understand the spirit of collaboration and cultural exchange. We especially encourage female comedians to apply, as we are committed to presenting a balanced and diverse lineup.”

The call for applications is open to comedians of all styles, formats, and nationalities. The festival will celebrate the power of humour to address social issues, build cultural bridges, and create meaningful artistic exchange across formal and informal performance spaces.
