Singer Iryn Namubiru has sparked a debate after confessing that she has never dreamed or fantasized about getting married, despite a luxurious wedding being most women’s dream.
Namubiru was previously married to her French lover, Frank Morel, with whom she had two sons, before they later separated. Sharing her marriage preferences, Iryn revealed that while everyone else wanted to walk down the aisle one day, she had other dreams growing up.
She had always convinced herself that if she ever got money, the first thing she would do was buy a car because she was fed up with being disrespected in taxis because of her small size. Another one of her goals was to work hard and improve the situation at her home regarding feeding.
Amidst all this, she never dreamed of getting married, even at this age. Talking about her earlier life, Namubiru narrated that she has always had it easy with everything working out smoothly without any struggles, including a relationship that led to her marriage.
“So many things that have happened in my life, and I have always spoken while complaining, but also, the beautiful things are so many. Life happened easily, yet other people are struggling with the same. Many look for a visa but are repeatedly rejected. For the very first visa I applied for, I just took my passport and, just like that, I was granted it. I didn’t struggle. For the marriage, I met somebody, it was easy, he married me without me even thinking about it. It never occurred to me that I had to get married. I didn’t do much to prepare for it. Unlike it being every girl’s dream to have that fancy wedding, it has never been mine to be in a gown or fantasize about my wedding,” Iryn said.
