President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni has disclosed that the real challenge of the Nile Basin is not the old colonial agreements but underdevelopment in the tropics.
President Museveni made the remarks today morning at National Leadership Institute Kyankwanzi while lecturing a delegation from the Egyptian Armed Forces Staff and Command College on a number of issues, including the Nile Basin question.
President Museveni said that the challenge is lack of electricity, limited industrialisation and the effects of climate change and the solution is electrification and industrialisation so that the environment is protected and water resources are sustainably managed.
The President also shared the historical missions that have guided Uganda and Egypt rejecting identity-based politics in favour of nationalism and Pan-Africanism, driving socio-economic transformation and advancing African unity.
President Museveni said that he was pleased that they visited the Source of the Nile in Jinja and appreciated the beauty of our country.
