Uganda (St Mary’s Boarding School Kitende) rallied from a goal down to earn a point with hosts Zimbabwe during Group A of the 2026 CAF African Schools championship at Gateway High School playground on Easter Monday.

The hosts took the lead through Moses Maremudze at the commencement of the second half.

It took just five minutes for the Ugandan representatives to restore parity with the equalizer through Bashir Edema.

After the duel, Uganda’s head coach Hassan Zzungu lamented about the missed goal scoring opportunities created and not buried off.

“The game was so disappointing” he cried aloud. “After creating so many chances and managing to score just once, our opponents created once and put it away” he continued.

Going forward:

Lamentations aside; Zzungu was however positive about the point earned at the end of the day. “A point is not bad. We shall build on the point attained as look forward tomorrow’s games.” Zzungu pointed.

It is a busy Tuesday that awaits team Uganda who face Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) in the first game before the mouth of all contests; against North African opposition, Morocco.

Tanzania is the reigning champions (boys) and Ghana has the girls’ title.
