Heading into the game, the record joint holders were favourites and took the lead inside three minutes through Said Mayanja and ten minutes into the second half, Herbert Achai doubled their lead. The game was literally won for KCCA.

How did the team capitulate?

In the 75th minute, two changes were made with Rogers Mugisha and Ashraf Mugume replaced goal scorer Said Mayanja and Alex Yiga.

Six minutes to fulltime, Innocent Kisolo effort from long range was deflected past Mugolofa who had kept a few shots on his goal well.

He could do nothing about the goal and yet, this injected life into Hussein Mbalangu’s men with the attacking changes he had made.

With literally the last kick of the game, URA won a free kick just inside the KCCA half. Ronald Vvuni sent in a very teasing ball and his defensive partner rose highest to nod him the equaliser and sent the game into extra time.

KCCA had earlier made two changes when their lead was cut with Ivan Ahimbisibwe and Sammy Ssebaduka replaced with Emmanuel Anyama and Sharif Ssengendo.

In extra time, the Kasasiro looked toothless and when the game went into penalties, lottery didn’t favour them and they are now out.

Another trophyless season?

Having lost the Fufa Super 8, now out of the Uganda Cup and five points behind leaders Vipers in the premier league, they now risk another trophyless season.

They haven’t won silverware since 2018/19 when they won the league and Cecafa Kagame Cup.

To end this, they must overtake both Vipers and Kitara who ahead of them and avoid being overtaken by SC Villa.

KCCA remaining fixtures
