Kampala Rockets stun JT Jaguars

Kampala Rockets picked up their first win of the National Basketball League season, beating JT Jaguars 70–52 on Wednesday at Abja Park in Naalya.

The Rockets had opened the campaign with three straight losses to Victoria Crocs, JKL Dolphins and City Oilers, but bounced back in style.

The Rockets got off to a good start, winning the first quarter 19-14 before opening a 36-21 lead at halftime and held onto their lead to the final buzzer.

Christian Ndibu recorded a double-double with 13 points and 17 rebounds. Touissant Mampuya added 16 points, while Brian Opio contributed 13 in the victory.

Mark Were scored a game-high 24 points for the Jaguars while Chuol Nyut Abraham and Fadhil Chuma had 11 points and 11 rebounds respectively, but it was not enough as they suffered their first defeat of the season.

The Rockets outrebounded the Jaguars 58-44 despite committing 20 turnovers enroute to an emphatic win.
